
Winter is here! Winter for many of us here in the southwestern parts of Swedem is largely snow-free, but not this year. The snow arrived in December and is still here! Nearly two months with snow! A record. This year, whole Sweden has been covered in a thick blanket of snow. In my collage you see some of my favourite flowers, the hellebores.
I just love to have butterflies in my garden and try to buy plants and bushes they and their larvae like. Lately we could read in our newspapers that of the 48 resident butterfly and burnet moths found here in Sweden a hundred years ago, more than 40% have become extinct today. Why: One explanation is that flower-rich habitats have disappeared from both woodlands as well as from open farmlands. Of course there are more reasons too.... Here are some of the butterflies that visited my garden this summer:
